1917
The front of the Model T gets a face lift. Ford enters into the truck market by offering a beefed up one ton Model T chassis. The First first Fordson Tractor is built in October. Edsel and Eleanor have a child, Henry Ford II is born on September 4th. Several assembly plants close as the U.S.. enters into the first World War. Ford enters the truck business in earnest on July 27th with the first one ton chassis, selling for $600 dollars, it consisted of a lengthened and strengthened Model T frame,stouter rear springs,artillery-style rear wheels and solid rubber tires, and a worm-drive rear axle. No complete bodies were cataloged, all bodies were done as aftermarket.
