Frazer Motor Cars
1947
The 1947 Frazers were introduced June 29th, 1946, and the Manhattan appeared in dealer showrooms March 23rd,1947. Model production peaked for both Kaisers and Frazers at 139,249 units. Calender years production of 144,507 cars was recorded (these totals include Kaisers). Kaiser and Frazer automobiles were built on the same platform, with different decorative trims and upholstery appointments. Production of a front wheel drive Kaiser car, with similar styling, was anticipated at first. At least one prototype was built before the plan was scuttled. The first body drop took place at the newly refurbished Willow Run, Mich. assembly plant on May 29th, 1946, and the first cars were shipped on June 22nd of the same year. However delivers were slow until the fall of 1946. The Fashion Academy, of New York City, awarded the 1947 Frazer Manhattan its Gold Medal for design achievement.
