Frazer Motor Cars
1948
There were no major changes in the 1948 Frazers , although they promoted 35 mechanical and styling improvements. They included such things as a higher compression ratio, relocated dual action fuel pump, relocated exhaust system, new vibration damper, standard Goodyear super-cushion tires, heavier springs and shock absorbers, an aluminum master cylinder, countersprung hood supports, lighter steel brake backing plates, and 15 other refinements. Appearance alterations included new colors, redesigned hubcaps, one-piece name plate, front carpeting for Manhattans and five other minor styling revisions. Some of these changes were actually running changes first seen on late 1947 Frazer cars. Four bumper guards were employed at the front of both 1947 and 1948 Frazers. For 1948 the Frazer Manhattan recieved leather upholstery options, a Manhattan script plate located on the front fenders, just forward of the door and a chrome strip running between the front and rear wheelwell openings. A 112-hp six-cylinder engine with a single two-barrel carburator as in 1947 was available on the Manhattan only. The 1948 Frazers were intorduced in December of 1947. The total Kaiser-Frazer production was 139,249 units. Calender year production of 181,316 units was recorded. The 200,000 Kaiser automoible produced was a 1948 Frazer Manhattan.
