Frazer Motor Cars
1950
For 1950, Frazer claimed that it's designers had "created a superb new Frazer that is the last word in luxury." IN truth there was nothing new at all, since the 1950 models could be identified by a few trim distinctions. Many were leftover 1949 models. They had narrow chrome strips below the doors. All models had "Frazer" across the front radiator grill. Company literature highlighted welded steel body construction, tru-line steering with triple control, Super-Cushion low pressure tires, and interior fabrics produced by famous mills and looms, which were color styled to blend with exterior finishes. Other important features included centerfuge brake drums, floating shoe brakes, three-point engine mountings, ball-type mid ship bearings, double-channel box framing, hypoid rear axles, clear-vision steering wheel, rubber cored spring brackets, spring leaf lifters, V-mounted shock absorbers, directional signals, automatic choke, external oil-filter, oil bath air cleaner, ball bearing water pump, sway eliminator bar, wraparound bumpers, coil front springs, an 27 cubic foot luggage compartment, push-button door latches and large ash receivers for the heavy smoker in the family. The Frazer Manhattan series continued with two four-door models, the Sedan and the Convertible. They could be identified by the wide 'double-level' chrome strip below the doors and the Manhattan script plate attached to the trailing edge of the upper front fender sides. Fender skirts, with 'double-level' moldings were standard on the convertible sedan. Full chrome disc's, wheel trim rings, concealed floor lamps, front seat assist handles, chrome instrument panel moldings and non-glare rearview mirrors continued as standard equipment features. The 1950 Frazers were introduced in November 1949. The production 1950 models was included with the 1949 production totals. Industry statistics suggest that 16% of the cars had 1950 Frazer serial numbers. Cars of the two years are exactly the same, all 1950 models having been leftover 1949's that were re-serial numbered. On Nov.7th 1949 all new and unused Frazers remaining in dealer stocks were re-coded as 1950 models. Kaiser-Frazer was America's 12th ranked automaker in 1950.
