1954 XM-800 was presented at Detroit Automobile show. The body was made of fiberglass, and the car was 5 inch wider than the regular 1954 production model. The interior offered four bucket seats, separated with stationary armrests.

1956 Mercury XM Turnpike Cruiser Concept was designed with fast, long
driving in mind. It was inspired of the Interstate Highway System. A lot of the
design elements was later seen on the regular production model 1957 Turnpike
Cruiser.

This is how the Mercury XM Turnpike Cruiser was moved when it toured around the
US back in 1956.

These are pictures of the car as it was back in 2001. The XM was as you can see
in rather poor condition. If someone out there has newer information about the
car, please let us know.

1964 Comet Super Cyclone
A racing type fuel system is mounted high on the center of the deck lid. The car has full circle rear wheel cut outs in the rear fenders, unusual rectangualer headlights and a special grill. Exhaust pipes exit through chromed ports in the rear fenders. Special interior intrumentation includes a rally pac an vacuum gauge, tachometer and an elapsed time clock. Engineering inovations include a radar warning device to alert the cars driver of cars approaching from the rear. The location fo this car is not know today.

The Super Marauder was built by George Barris (to Lincoln-Mercury design and
technical specifications) and was included in the first year of the
Lincoln-Mercury Caravan of Stars. It was powered by a HP 427 V8,
had torpedo shaped headrests, and a "two handle" steering system that replaced
the conventional steering wheel.

The basis was a 1965 Comet Convertible, At the request and direction of Ford Motor Company styling department Gene Winfield Californina Car Customizer took on the task of creating a custom show car, the Comet Cyclone Sportster's modifations included a a nine inch windshield with side glass joined by a very narrow pillar and no trace of a top. A clever roll bar is now rising from the rear deck lid and adds style to the Sportster. The Styling changes up front include, special bullets and blades, a floating grill made from Cyclone componets and incorporating special driving lights. The custon bumpers are made from two tops and two bottoms to form the blade styling, the Comet has a rolled rear pan. A new peak was sculpured along the tops of the fenders extending on the doors. Exhaust ports in the rear qaurter panels and handmade tail lights complete the rear styling. Paint is pearl green.

Conceived as a styling probe and conversation piece to be shown across the network of Mercury dealers and custom car shows. The Comet Escapade evolved from a standard 1966 Comet Convertible, Under the guidance of Ford Corporate Styling the tedious custom work was assigned to wast coast Barris shop. Where the Dearborn plans were executed in detail.
