For many Packard enthusiasts this is the last year for the Packard Motor Car Co. Factory introductions were held Nov, 3, 1955 for Clippers and Packard's and April, 9, 1956 for the Executives. The total model run of Packard's was a mere 28,835 cars. Calendar year sales dropped to 13,432. Packard slid to 15th in the industry ranking. These figures did not combine Packard and Studebaker sales.(Studebaker was ranked 13th) The 1955-1956 Four Hundred/Patrician and Caribbean are Milestone cars. The 1956 Caribbean convertible came with reversible seat upolstery that was brocade on one side and leather on the other. The futuristc Predictor show car was constructed this year. On July 27,1956 Studebaker-Packard Corp entered into a joint management agreement with Curtis-Wright Corp. Shortly thereafter James Nance resigned as cheif executive officer. On August, 15, 1956 Packard operation in Detroit were brought to a halt.

Historical Note: The last Detroit built Packard was Serial Number 5682-4775. It was a Patrician 4-door sedan assembled Monday, June 25, 1956. Anyone that any information on this car please contact us!
