The 1957 Packard Clipper was a badge-engineered automobile built off a Studebaker President chassis. Packard modifications included finned rear fenders, a special rear wheel panel treatment and more elaborate trim. The Packard name appear in individual block letters on the front of the hood. A Clipper script was placed on the rear fenders. Packard and Clipper script was also affixed to the deck or station wagon tailgate. The traditional Clipper "Ships Wheel" medallion decorated the grill and the rear of the cars. Side trim distinctive to the Packard Clipper consisted of a wide, grooved bright metal band extending the entire length of the car and across the tailgate on the station wagon. Standard equipment included modified 1956 Clipper chrome wheel discs,chrome drip molding, two speed electric wipers, turn signals,back-up lights, front bumper guards, padded dashboard, deep-dish steering wheel, electric clock,cigar lighter, glovebox lamp, front & rear carpeting, foam rubber seat cushions and a rear seat center armrest on the Town Sedan. The only choice available in 1957 was the four door Town Sedan or the Country Sedan Station Wagon. All other models are now in the history books, the Executive, Patrician, Four Hundred, Caribbean. Packard as a stand alone model would resurface one last time in 1958 but it would be Packard badging in name alone the rest of the car would be Studebaker.
