1970
The 1970 Plymouth's were introduced Sept. 23, 1969, and the Valiant line appeared in dealer showrooms that same day. Model year production peaked at 725,600 units. This was the last year for convertibles in the Satelitte and Fury lines. The Barracuda recieves an all new body and its name is cute down to just 'Cuda. This would be the only year Plymouth built the high winged Superstar of Nascar the Super Bird. New for 1970 is the Plymouth Duster. Of all Chrysler products built this model year, only,1,543 had 426-cid 'Street Hemi' engines and only a portion of these went into Plymouth's. The cars that received these engines included 75 Road Runners (59 with 4-speeds); 74 Road Runner coupes (44 with 4-speeds); three Road Runner convertibles (one with 4-speeds); 135 Super Birds (58 with 4-speeds); 72 GTX hardtops (43 with 4 speeds); 652 'Cuda hardtops (284 with 4-speeds); and 14 'Cuda convertibles (five with 4-speeds)
