1963

In 1963 the Lark type Studebakers were only slightly restyled, but some major changes were made in their model indentification. To give the Cruiser more identity, it was no longer classified as a Lark. The Regal, which for years had been a top of the line model was dropped down a notch. The Custom, which was once a low priced trim offering, took over the former Regal position. The Daytona line was expanded to include the highest priced version of the new sliding roof Wagonaire four-door wagon. Then, in midyear, a bare bones Studebaker line the Standard was introduced as Studebaker's new low price offering. The Standard has no side molding. The Regal had one narrow molding per side. The Custom had check mark side moldings similar to what was used on the 1962 Daytonas. The 1963 Daytona had side moldings that widened out at the back of the car. The "Daytona" script was attached to the wide part of the molding. Cruiser side trim was the same as Daytona, except it was fitted with a "Cruiser" script. All 1963 Lark related models had a new, non-wraparound windshield and narrow window posts on sedans and wagons. Chnages on the Grand Turismo Hawks were limited to trim alterations. Larger lettering on the deck lid overlay and closed in side grills were the most obvious. Daytona, Regal, Custom and Heavy-Duty models had Lark block lettering on the front fenders. The Standard had Studebaker script in the same position.  Gran Turismo model indentification were the same as 1962. This would be the first year for the Avanti.
